Survey of Investigator Experiences in Human Research

Dear Colleagues:

The Survey Research Center is pleased to present the results of a survey, “Survey of Investigator Experiences in Human Research.” The Survey was developed and conducted by the Survey Research Center for the Office of Human Research Compliance Review, a unit within the Office of the Vice President for Research, with funding from various schools, colleges, and institutes in the biomedical and behavioral sciences on the University of Michigan Ann Arbor campus.

The overarching goal of the survey was to provide information to human research stakeholders on the Ann Arbor campus, particularly IRBs and policy-making bodies, with information about how investigators experience the research regulatory process. The data will also serve as benchmarks for ongoing evaluation of the human research protection program.

The survey covered the following topic domains:
  • Interactions with IRB staff
  • The application review and approval process
  • eResearch
  • Participation in educational opportunities
  • Interest in learning more about topics in research with human subjects
  • Practices in the research setting
  • Demographics

Questions and comments about the survey can be directed to:
