Parents helping children; or is it the other way around?
Monday March 19, 2012 (3:30 PM - 5:00 PM)

The presentation will focus on parents who are trying to help their children cope with painful and invasive treatments for pediatric cancer. Although the parent is the helper and the child is the recipient, we will discuss ways in which certain attributes of the child may "protect" the parent from some of the negative psychosocial consequences of caring for a child with a life threatening disease. The findings will be considered from perspective of whether these attributes may confer some evolutionary benefits to the child.
